I just had the most incredible string of bad luck with portable propane heaters. This made the third (though a different model heater) Mr. Heater propane heater that has been a disappointment. The good news is that this one actually had gas being emitted. The bad news is that it was leaking inside the back of the unit as well as the front element and I couldn't hear it. My sense of smell is damaged -- long story -- and so I couldn't smell it. So I ignited the pilot and whoosh, bye, bye arm hair and eyebrows. But that's what I get for not being all the way outdoors and being partially deaf and having little sense of smell.The bottom line is that I have had THREE Mr Heater Buddies and two larger uprights like this and they have all been crap. I do have to say though that I did have a slightly larger Mr. Heater than this one for about three years up north that worked flawlessly with pretty constant use. That is only a 20% success rate.
