This food sealer works when you are sealing something that contains no moisture at all. We bought this appliance to freeze fresh fruit, blanched vegetables and meat. If the item you are trying to seal contains moisture, forget it, it does not seal. The manual says that wet items should be quickly frozen before sealing. Big! They now get ice formation (i.e. freezer burn) in addition to the extra time it takes to do this. As an added bonus, you can pay big for refill rolls! The bottom line is, if you need to freeze cotton balls or sand, this product is for you! If you want to freeze food, don't waste time, just buy old freezer bags!
