I vacuum sealed 2 filet mignon. I had to clean the drip tray and it wouldn't come out. I was told to use a butter knife and run it over it. It does not work. I prefer the old no-frills type. Simply lift the lid, place the pouch over the sealant, then lower the lid and seal! Too many things that can go wrong when they add all the extras. My old vacuum sealer lasted 8 years; NEVER no problems!

After fairly minimal use the 4840 only lasted 4 months past the factory warranty. I just ordered another one, but this time I bought an extended warranty. Offer the same to anyone who can read this. UPDATE: Bought a new 4840 and guess what won't vacuum. Another meat loss, the first was sent back to the factory. I'm returning this one, but it's worth less than the meat I lost.

Bought this to replace an old Food Saver that I enjoyed using for almost 7 years before it expired. I am not at all happy with this system. This food sealer works when you are sealing something that contains no moisture at all. We bought this appliance to freeze fresh fruit, blanched vegetables and meat. If the item you are trying to seal contains moisture, forget it, it does not seal. The manual says that wet items should be quickly frozen before sealing. Big!
