Review on Secure Your Gear with RotopaX RX-LOX-PM Pack Mount Lock by Jamal Gignilliat

Non-Plug-n-Play: Modification Required

This works well until it stops working. There is a short story with pictures here. My tanks are mounted horizontally, which Rotopax proudly displays as an option. I ordered them a few years ago but they were only installed for about 8 months. I take them off every month to top up the gas.2. When I first removed the locking mechanisms they were rusty. They spoil quickly. Too bad Rotopax didn't take any rust prevention measures here. Every time I've marinated in WD40 it may have helped.3. When I really needed some gas at the track last week, one of the four locks broke and I broke the key when I tried to pick the lock and remove the key.4. As you can see, the lock recess simply collects water, soaking the locks 24/7. So drill holes on the back of the latches (they already have cutouts). Remember to rotate the locking hole between the drills on each side so that it is under the drill. Otherwise, drill through the hard side of the latch.6. Now there are drainage holes so that the locking mechanisms are not constantly soaked with water. Something Rotopax should have done in the first place.7. Wire brushed off as much rust as I could. The rust remover will damage the chrome of the rest of the lock so I didn't want to risk it.8. Still in operation, the three castles relax at night in a spa filled with PB B'laster oil. This step has now been moved to the Very Common Scheduled Maintenance list.9. A NOTICE. The metal part of the key goes into a plastic sleeve that you put on the key ring. It came out during my struggle with the broken lock and came loose with little effort. So keep an eye on it if your keychain knocks frequently. I think you could just get a piece of black plastic on the keychain, not a key. They are ready to fix new stuff instantly, don't worry about Rotopax stuff. It's nice when it works, but almost every component I got from them required some kind of fix to make it work for me. If I hadn't already invested a lot of money in this device I would have thrown it away and gone back to my trusty old canisters.
