It is very difficult to align the tab so that it hits the center of the bottom/main square piece. Otherwise, the grommet will usually warp when installed, but worse, it damages the soft, low-grade plastic that surrounds the metal center, leaving "pits" for the grommets to snag and stick to. This happened during the first project which required 24 3/16" grommets and had some off-center "missing". The hole punch does not fit a large stock, it is impossible to use this hole punch. I gave up everything in disappointment. This pitting problem could have been avoided entirely if the base/floor was made entirely of hardened metal and not plastic OR at least used HARD plastic that is not easily damaged/sharpened. My husband has been a machinist for 45 years, has a good knowledge of metals and plastics and said that plastic is complete Chinese crap and should never have been used for such applications. So if you plan on using this tool frequently, you'd better aim perfectly EVERY TIME, with a perfectly seated eye that hits the bottom center of the base EVERY TIME, or you'll end up with an expensive and useless tool. .
