Efficiency 3: barely sharp, 2: sharp and 1 : very sharp. "barely sharp" can be used for sizing in my opinion and can usually be cut into printer paper. "Sharp" can easily cut thin magazine or phone book paper, while "Very Sharp" will cut (not tear) toilet paper or a damp paper towel. This device can barely sharpen or sharpen you depending on the blade and how much time you are willing to spend with it. This works well for some knife profiles, but worse for others. I find this works well on flat-bottomed knives as long as the secondary bevel isn't set too high. It works well on most Scandi Green knives, it's (usually) a flat ground option only. With some Scandi cut variants, e.g. B. Hollow grinding at the edge, this system does not work very well. It also works well on hollow ground knives. I don't think that works well on Concave. So think about it. As previously mentioned, this is not the type of device that should be used on a poorly finished knife that needs reprofiling first. Regularly sharpening a blade in fair condition will take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes per knife, depending on the blade steel, profile and how dull it was originally. If you want a reasonably reproducible system that costs less than $100 and can be boxed up, this is a great choice for getting results from barely sharp to crisp. If you want your knives to be very sharp all the time, this is not the best option. Sure, some can get those results on some knives with this device with significant effort (time), but to consistently go from sharp to very sharp you'll probably need another and more expensive system like EdgePro or WickedSharp or whatever. this nature. Portable fixed "V" ceramic sharpeners, which you can buy for around $10, can barely sharpen some (not all) knives. This device can get a wider range of blades in the barely sharp or sharp category. If you need more on a broader range of blade servers, I recommend checking out the EdgePro. It's about four times the price of this Sharpmaker and it takes longer to get results like this, so you'll have to decide if it's worth it. For many people, hardly is tough or tough enough. If so, then this is an expensive and effective device.
