Review on AUTOHAUX Compressor Solenoid Conditioner Replacement by Freddy Hammonds

This is a simple replacement for a 2013 Altima 2.5 SL 4DR with a variable A/C compressor (varies by Altima trim level). The hardest part is getting the mechanics to think outside the box or not blow their wallets with unnecessary repairs. At the first shop they said all pressures were normal and the air conditioning was cold and working. I pointed this out to them and then pointed them to numerous blogs, papers that said to replace the control valve, not the compressor, if everything else was fine. They couldn't think of anything other than the $1,500 replacement fee they wanted. The second shop, "Oh, we just put the coolant on," here's the $150 bill and damage to your paintwork from sloppy mechanics who spilled coolant everywhere. Many thanks to Guarantee Automotive in Austin, Texas for your shoddy work, ignorant mechanic and ignorant manager. A third shop agreed to install this valve if I bought it, but charged another $300 for the labor. BUT, they agreed to tow the car, let me drive home, tow it and pick it up in less than 15 minutes and bring it back to the store to the store. They filled it back up, no leaks, no problems, and on the road I was driving with cold AC in 101 degree weather in Austin, Texas in July. Jacking up the car took longer than installing this valve. Circlip pliers and regular pliers are required, pump out the refrigerant, disconnect and remove/reinstall the cable, then charge the system. Some reviews had issues with the valve sticking, luckily I didn't and pulled it out immediately. I didn't have to disassemble anything in the car, the compressor is directly on level ground under the passenger side. See pic. Hope it lasts as long as the original part.
