Review on ๐Ÿ”ช High-Quality Norton Grinding Wheel: Premium Bench & Pedestal Aluminum Oxide Wheel, Very Fine Grit - 6 Inch, Pack of 1 by Brian Lee

Very unbalanced Scary Soft

I was going to use it for a while before reviewing. My main goal was to sharpen high-speed steel turning tools. The plastic hub intended for my mandrel was so loose that it fell out of the wheel when unpacking, which doesn't bode well for something like this. I installed it on my grinder and the vibrations almost shook the grinder off the table. I hooked up the grinder and tried again to adjust the fit on the mandrel and worked the stone. This is a SOFT stone. Due to the large amount of material detached from the rock, I immediately created a huge cloud of white dust. The mask is a MUST. While this improved the balance, it didn't spin properly at all. Well this gives my tools a decent edge but due to the softness of the stone it requires frequent work which I think will reduce the lifespan to unacceptable levels. I bought a set of trendy diamond "stones" and use them for sharpening (it's razor sharp now!) and only occasionally use a whetstone to refine the shape. If you want to sharpen planer knives or chisels, I recommend you skip this product. If you work with mild steel and want a fairly smooth finish, this might be for you.
