I recently bought a 2.25 inch size which is the max for 26 inch. I need a good tire for the soft sand you sometimes find in Florida. So I tried more and more and it got better. When I got to the 2.1" size, I found that to install or remove the wheel from the bike, the tire had to be deflated to about 15psi. That of course means I unhooked the wheel. Brake caliper, so the pads came loose but that wasn't enough. My bike was designed to barely fit this size. However, the extreme corners of the tread on one edge at the back might rub against the frame once per revolution. I wrapped and taped sandpaper around the frame and after about 4 miles I increased the gap by 0.5mm which solved the problem.I found the braking weird.I finally found out that the caliper arms wrap around the sides of the tire.I need new brake pads or something. Shims as spacers, so if you try to set a maximum width, expect problems or assume it can't be set on a bike.
