I have a guide dog puppy who is with me all day and we often have to walk around hot parking lots and sidewalks. Grass areas are also not always safe as many have thorns or other objects that could get in my dog's paws. I prefer these socks to boots because they are easier to put on and take off and my dog is much more comfortable in socks. I also like that I can easily wash them after a long day. The only downside is the need to use straps to hold the socks. My socks often shrink walking in them if I don't tighten the straps properly. I don't think they are too big because the paws just fit on the main part of the sock. My guess is that dogs' paws are shaped in a way that makes it difficult for things like socks and shoes to hold securely without being too tight.
