A hundred dollars for twelve downlights with junction boxes really seemed like a risk considering traditional downlights cost around five times as much. . But for $8 for Light and Prime, it was worth trying. I will say that they are inexpensive to make and this is where the pennies could be saved. But all this is hidden and will never be visible after installation. For example, the junction box is the thinnest metal I've ever used for a box like this, but it's good enough for the job. The length of cable that comes with the connector is barely long enough for the job - it could easily have been another 4 inches longer, but it isn't. Lights come with wire nuts which are sufficient but due to space limitations it would be easier to use connectors when wiring. On the other side, two lamps were "damaged" - there is a connector in between. Junction box and bracket, and in one case the male end of the plug wasn't injected with enough plastic so it was molded without threads - the plug still worked, but there was no mechanical latch. In the second case, also with plugs, there was no gasket sealing the connection. None of these issues were a problem. On the other hand, given the thickness of drywall, you only need about 3/4 inch of space to install them, so they can be placed almost anywhere no matter what's in the way of the ceiling. And perhaps most important: the color selector - it's impossible to know what the room will look like given how the color of the light interacts with the other colors in the room.
