"All-weather" tires Goodyear Vector 4 seasons GEN2 225/65/R17 (made in Germany) was chosen by me exclusively for the summer period + off-season until the establishment (descent) of a stable snow cover solely because it has at least some hint of tread depth. All modern summer tires remind me of "slicks" exclusively for driving on asphalt and, God forbid, I have to move into the mud, the "slicks" are washed out right there and no all-wheel drive will help, I'm not talking about mono drive. For those who consider Goodyear Vector 4 seasons as an alternative to changing shoes to full-fledged winter tires, I’ll say right away that I don’t recommend using this rubber in winter in our climatic conditions (Hong Kong region), maybe in Germany or in our South and it will work, but after the first snow realized that there is no adhesion to the road until the wheel does not reach the asphalt. Before that, I had experience using the first generation Goodyear Vector 4 seasons (GEN1) and I really liked it, so I will mainly compare it with them. So a comparison of Goodyear Vector 4 seasons GEN-2 R17 (Auto Nissan X-Trail T31) and GEN-1 R14 (Auto VAZ-2112) according to my feelings: - GEN-2 is somewhat stiffer than GEN-1, but much softer than the summer Matador Hectorra 3; — GEN-2 is much more resistant to hydroplaning than the summer Matador Hectorra 3, with GEN-2 splashes do not fly to the hood when driving through puddles, which cannot be said about the Matador Hectorra 3; - GEN-2 is slightly more economical than GEN-1; - GEN-2 is less passable through mud than GEN-1; - GEN-2 are more sensitive to hydroplaning than GEN-1; - GEN-2 and GEN-1 - excellent road holding, do not feel the track. In general, choosing tires again, I would opt for Goodyear Vector 4 seasons GEN-1, however, in the dimension 225/65/R17 and at an adequate price, it was not realistic to find it in the summer of 2022, so the choice was for GEN-2. Nevertheless, compared to the "summer competitors" I like GEN-2 much more. I hope this post will help someone make the right choice.
