Obviously not properly curved, but both are identical so this is not a random issue. The two surfaces are never parallel, so the friction is greater than necessary and this can prevent them from staying firmly in place. The hole for the lock or pin is partially blocked by the frame. The rivets are painfully thin. Don't trust him with your life. It's the right size so I'll leave it on, but I spent some time using a vise and hammer to get the plates parallel and then tightened the rivets. Less play = less chance of rivets failing.
