Firstly, if you're looking for something impressive that fills your head with amazing sound, these speakers aren't for you. Does that mean they are bad? Absolutely not. I record solo and enjoy listening to music. From time to time I play games and watch movies on my desktop computer. These speakers won't work as cheap recording monitors (I have a good set of Audio-Technica cans for that), but they WILL work for everyday media consumption (read: the average guy who wants 5.1 surround sound). The sound is not overly colored unless you enable the Matrix feature. Overall everything sounds pretty tight and the sub doesn't get muddy while you're looking for a balanced sound. The volume control is nice and smooth. Also, those complaining about shorter speaker cords should be in for a fairly stretched configuration; I haven't had any issues with cable length and still have some wiggle room. Mounting options are equally good, especially the center-mounted speaker. it's really not that useful and it's more of a gimmick than anything else. To my ears, this is more of a stereo expander than anything else, instead routing the left-most and right-most channels to the rear speakers. However, I didn't buy it for this function, so it's a small problem. Another small issue I have is that the volume remote is hardwired into the subwoofer; My previous speakers (some old Creative 4.1 setups) had a detachable connector which made portability a bit easier.
