Review on Surface Mount Compass with 2.75-inch Dial in Black by Raymond Vogel

I have two of these. Bought both at the same time. One is on my console, the other is on my nose. I really like them except ONE thing: I don't like how easily the compass can be removed from its base. Just press both super handy little "buttons" (one on each side of the compass) and it pops out of the base. The bow mount is particularly vulnerable to greedy onlookers. Also, in fairly rough water, the boat bounced off the base of the bow compass. Luckily he jumped in the boat and not in the water. I will attach the compass to the base before my next fishing trip. Too bad I didn't notice that this model has an "Easy Release" function. I wouldn't buy them. It's my fault and I can deal with it.
