Fragile but the quality seems good and they are very light

I don't like LED "equivalent" lamps. In general, I don't think LEDs have reached the quality of light that the "old fashioned" incandescent bulb offers. I bit the bullet, however, having to re-power some extra headlights on an older car. OEM fittings deteriorated to the point where they could no longer handle the heat of an H1 halogen bulb. To avoid hassles (fused wires in socket, short circuit, etc.) I decided to try these H1 LED "equivalents". They fit perfectly and have VERY bright WHITE light and MUCH less heat than H1 halogen bulbs. I've only been using them for a month but so far so good. In short, I'd recommend them, but here's my one big caveat: These LED bulbs, like many bulbs of this type, use dozens of very small surface-mount LEDs to deliver high output. These tiny LEDs are VERY fragile and this particular product has no visible protection to prevent these tiny LEDs from being damaged during handling and installation. Unbeknownst to me, I knocked some tiny LEDs out of the lampshade just by plugging them into a socket! This does not appear to have had any significant impact on the lamp module as a whole, but if I had been careless during installation or unpacking/handling these lamps I could possibly have done enough damage to either destroy or greatly reduce the performance of the lamps . So be VERY careful when handling and installing these things. I wasn't helpless in the face of them, but of course I had to be VERY, VERY careful. You are advised to do the same.

Pros
  • Quality build
Cons
  • The list will be long.
