This is the 5th Warthog V-Sharp Classic II and anything other than this I gave to good friends. I liked the brand and its efficiency and ease of sharpening knives. The quality was great too. IT WAS. No offense to the engineers, or shall we say the NEW engineers or maybe the Warthog's bean counters, but this iteration definitely underperforms by my standards compared to four other Warthog V-Sharp Classic IIs. seems to bend when I sharpen knives. The frame appears to move on the base despite being bolted on as tightly as possible. The quality of the whetstones you break off is lower in this iteration than in previous iterations. To be honest, everything about this iteration feels flexible and cheap. I understand the need to rethink design and materials to keep the price competitive. The problem is that the drop in quality is very noticeable, while the price remains relatively high. Another more obvious problem is the following. While other iterations I've had and given away have been amazing and effective at sharpening knives, this simply isn't the case. The wooden base is cheaper, the frame is cheaper, the fittings are cheaper, the stones are cheaper. and it doesn't sharpen knives as sharply or as quickly as any other of the same make and model. Maybe I just have a bad production cycle? I do not know. What I do know for sure is that I gave away all my good Warthog V-Sharp Classic IIs.
