When I first opened the package with them, it smelled oddly of perfume and was "damp" inside. The inner packaging of the bags looked fine, so I just washed them thoroughly. I was very excited when I first opened the bags because they were so much easier to open and close than any other reusable silicone storage bags I've tried before. It was impressive. Unfortunately this was short lived as they are almost impossible to close after washing (with normal warm water and Dawn soap). The sandwich sized top line and above just won't slide into the inner line to close it and you have to press incredibly hard or use the blunt end of a knife to push down and close it. This is frustrating because I'm trying to find good school lunch options for my kids and if I have trouble closing the bags they definitely won't be able to handle it. That disappointment aside, they're airtight, they're well built - there aren't any loose spots or places where holes can easily form. No extraneous smell from the product itself. I think they would be a great choice if they could be easily opened and closed! I wish there was a reusable silicone pouch that you can just seal!
