I already had another manufacturer's brand i-cord (purple) and wanted to know if this one had a better design as I plan to make a lot of i-cords. It really is the best tool! I've found I can use thicker yarns - from light fingering to (smooth) worsted/aran yarn; easier to start; weight is easier to lift while working; I can put it in the middle of a project and it will stand up; and keep its more comfortable shape. Here's what I learned to make a good i-cord with these things every time: 1. Simply thread the yarn through the loop from the top and center down, then attach a weight - you don't need one fancy knots / sewing needles etc. 2. Make sure all 4 hooks are open and the yarn that detaches from the ball is free. Begin with the weight supported on a table or lap.3. Rotate the handle very slowly so the first hook catches and closes the yarn, stop rotating when the yarn reaches the second hook and slide the yarn over the hook. Repeat for just the next two hooks, lifting the tool up so you can feel the weight pull a little. (In the first row you just take thread on hooks 1 and 3, pull thread on hooks 2 and 4.) 4. Keep twisting while raising the tool so the weight hangs straight down - after 2- 3 turns you can start moving faster. Be sure to, that the ejected workpiece is always weighed down and hanging down. Make sure the incoming yarn is very slack - you will hear a "tick-tick-tick" which changes to a click as the yarn has tension. Tulip I-Cord Maker costs a few dollars more than another brand,
