Review on πŸ“» BaoFeng UV-82C Dual-Band FM Ham Two-Way Radio with Battery, Earpiece, Antenna, Charger - Enhanced Performance and Versatility by Swami Alcaraz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

I usually never rate anything, but I had to rate this. For anyone having trouble with these walkie-talkies, I have ordered, programmed, and deployed over a hundred of these walkie-talkies (Model 82C) for our organization. The sound is clear, the range is excellent and tests show that the radios are not up to specification. Out of about a hundred radios purchased, ONLY TWO radios were broken right out of the box. They worked great but faced the same problem. The sound was always at the highest level, no matter where the controller was placed. I repeat: ONLY TWO UNITS WERE BAD OUT OF OVER A HUNDRED! For a $108 investment ($54 x $2), I shouldn't have taken the time to box it up and send it back for repair or replacement. I threw both of the "poorly working" devices into a box to use for parts (battery, case, grips, belt clip, antenna, etc.). more! Our employees prefer these radios to our $800 brand radios because they're lighter, last longer, and are easier to use. Plus, if they come back totally exhausted from abuse or just plain exhausted, they just get a new one, no questions asked! For $54 I can give an abusive person ten radios a year (if need be) and it still doesn't cost as much as a Brand X device. For those of you having trouble, buy a suitable programming cable (Btech) and download Chirp for free from the internet. The Btech and Chirp cable is a bulletproof combo to get these radios up and running and they have NEVER let me down! I carry the 82C with me every day, abuse it, drop it at least once or more a day and it's still working great after two years of use. After all, a radio with this build quality and a price tag of $54.00 is value for money and then some! This review is based solely on my personal experience with these radios. I am NOT affiliated with Revain, Baofeng, Btech or anyone else. I'm just tired of people calling these radios Chinese junk, which they are NOT, and wanted to provide an honest, unbiased review and set a record for who might be wary of buying these units or not. Thanks for your time.
