I have previously used Honeywell MERV-8 home filters and they worked fine. As I got older I got more allergy issues so I wanted something with a higher filtration efficiency. These MERV-12 filters cost about the same as MERV-8 filters when I bought them at my local hardware store. Purchasing MERV-12 here reduced my allergy symptoms and it was shipped right to my door for the same price. Note: Higher filtration values result in reduced airflow. This can increase the load on the oven fan, so just be careful when switching from a lower efficiency filter. I haven't had any problems with my oven, but there are a few things to consider.
