Lexmark Z12: great little inkjet printer

About a year ago I got this as a used free printer from someone who was struggling with it and had a newer printer. This printer just sat in her garage. Still looked good. It turned out that this Lexmark Z12 needed a new ink cartridge and the ink cartridge was stuck to the side as it hadn't been used for a long time. I had to press the gray button on top a few times and tilt the printer sideways (and I think I hit it from the side) to get the cartridge out of its resting position. I think it's just a matter of keeping it level and using it. Anyway, a quick note on inks: Look for Lexmark 50 or 55 (black), 60 or 65 (color), or 71 (black) inks. Maybe 70 will do. I found about 71 while looking for ink at Kmart. I looked at the side of the box that listed various Lexmark printers, including the Z11. I forgot I had a Z12 and thought I had a Z11. Anyway, the picture on the box looked like the ink cartridge I had in the Z12. And it turns out that the #71 ink actually works in the Z12. Isn't that nice because I didn't want to go back to the store to return the ink cartridge. Either way, the Lexmark Z12 inkjet printer is a well-performing little printer. I use it as a portable travel printer that I carry around on one of those two-wheeled folding carts you usually use to haul a suitcase. I only use black paint. If you want to print in color, you must remove the black cartridge and install the color cartridge (the color cartridge also prints in black). I would rather just use black ink and not pay extra for color on this printer as I can use my other desktop "non-road" printers (Epson and HP) to do something more fancy that requires color. It's also good that you can get ink cartridges here at Revain if you can wait for the new ink to arrive.
