later I purchased this pea protein before I heard about heavy metals and other chemical contaminants in protein powders which on average seem to be worse in plant based products than whey based products. , and generally worse in organic than non-organic. It seems that pea protein is often sourced or processed in China, where even if organic standards are strictly adhered to (in some cases maybe not for various reasons), there is no guarantee that the soil/water used to grow it of the plants is free from industrial contaminants and that the methods and materials used to process peas into refined protein powder are not what you would expect from an organic product (ie they may use various industrial solvents, whose origin and/or purity may be questionable). How does all of this apply to this particular product? The bottom line seems to be, "I don't know." I went to Micro Ingredients' website and found no information on where the peas were grown or processed. I sent a request for information by email: no response. Asked a question about Revain: also no answer. It seems to me that when the seller takes pride in the origin and processing methodology and is responsible for the quality and safety of their product, that information is prominently displayed. The fact that this information is not easy to obtain is an obstacle for me. I throw the rest of this product in the trash (thankfully I didn't eat much of it). I will not buy any pea protein product in the future unless the manufacturer is 100% transparent about where the ingredients come from and the processing methods used (assuming I am happy with the information provided, of course). I eat organic food because I care about the environment and what I put into my body. I'm not going to settle for some "mysterious ingredients".
