Good for the price, but add another stick of RAM to unlock its true potential.

Okay, looks like there isn't a detailed review here so I'll give it a try. Before we begin, keep in mind that the processor in this device works best with dual-channel RAM (ie, two sticks). This machine comes with an 8GB flash drive only. The overall performance of the chip, ESPECIALLY in terms of graphics, is greatly improved by adding another stick. This is an easy upgrade, even for a beginner, and I'll provide some instructions on how to do it at the end. But first, let's talk about the laptop. The included Ryzen 5500u processor is fast enough for any task. It takes care of your spreadsheets, surfing the web, watching movies and more. He can even play some games! But not all games. It can handle less demanding or older games with ease, and can even play some of today's more demanding games if you want to dial the settings down. But if you're really looking for a mobile slots machine that can run the latest games with effects included, you'll need a $1,000+ gaming laptop with a dedicated graphics card and a lot more storage. The included 8GB of RAM is more than enough for day-to-day tasks like web browsing, office work, and light photo/video editing, but as mentioned above, you'll need to upgrade to 16GB if you want to get the most out of it. play cars or games. The 256GB SSD should be enough for most users. Who stores data on their real computer these days? If you don't put many games on it, it will fill up quickly. The screen is good for this price range. It's an IPS display, so viewing angles are great and it's reasonably bright with crisp colors. No complaints here. Battery life is good but not great, definitely good enough for the price you pay. The keyboard is the laptop keyboard. It's not great, but it will do. I wrote this entire review with it and it was convenient enough. Speakers are laptop speakers. you suck They're good enough for watching YouTube videos, but don't count on them for watching movies or playing music. It has Bluetooth, so just grab your favorite speaker and use it. Your ears will thank you. Build quality is only average, as with most laptops in this price range. As they say in the laptop world, "Performance, build quality, price. Pick two." and HP chose performance and price here. That's not to say the build quality is poor, but the all-plastic chassis just doesn't feel as sturdy as a more expensive machine with an aluminum body. At the same time, almost no laptop survives a long drop , a wrong foot or a dip in the bathtub. Why is your laptop on the floor? HOW DID SHE GET INTO THE BATH!? Better watch your stuff dude. So don't worry too much here. It's more than enough to get you through your commute to work or school in a laptop bag Overall this is a good laptop for the price and I would recommend it but you really should get that second stick of RAM I told you about it is not that hard, I promise. All you need is a tiny Phillips screwdriver and a credit/gift card that you don't mind a bit of banging on. Oh, and 8G B DDR4 3200MHz Laptop RAM. Make sure it is a laptop flash drive and not a desktop flash drive. Desktop doesn't fit. I used this drive and it works great: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-DDR4-Laptop-Memory-CT8G4SFRA32A/dp/B08C4Z69LN/ref=sr_1_4?crid=5MM4PVV45REW&dchild=1&keywords=ddr4+laptop+ram+ 8gb&qid = 1623993425&sprefix=ddr4+lap%2Caps%2C203&sr=8-4First turn the laptop on its back side. Do you see the rubber buffers? take them off They're easy to pry off, but BE CAREFUL, they can easily break if you move too fast. Slowly but surely. Put them aside. Now you can see the screws hidden below. Now remove all screws. Set them aside so you can remember where they go. Then look behind the screen hinge and find the gap where the silver plastic meets the white plastic as shown in the very helpful pictures I have so kindly provided to you. Insert a plastic card there and lift the plastic latches until they stop. Now turn the car around and look at the next picture. Do you see the arrows? Take a plastic card and insert it into the slot between the top and side panels. Push down until the tab releases and pops off. From here you can slowly slide your card around the entire edge of the laptop, releasing each plastic tab until the entire panel is removed. Now that you can see the entire inside of the computer, you won't touch anything. You'll google "how to install laptop ram" and watch a video because it takes about ten seconds and it's almost impossible to screw up, but you'll feel a lot more confident watching someone do it it is done first. Once that's done, simply slide the bottom plate into place, replace the screws, reattach the rubber pads and turn on the machine. Congratulations! You are now a computer surgeon and your laptop has reached its final form. You can tell this story at parties for years to impress members of the opposite sex. So enjoy your upgraded computer. You deserve it.
