We bought this hat for my almost 3 year old son to wear on his upcoming trip to the beach and it has worked great. We got a bee which was so cute and my daughter loved it! She really wanted to leave him, and even if she didn't, thanks to the chin strap, he would still be there. I think it would be best for a child closer to 2 years old (or with a smaller head) as they don't have much room to grow, but I'm sure they'll wear it for as long as possible until then becomes!
