This printer is an excellent photo printer. I have no idea why Olympus doesn't advertise the excellent quality of the prints produced by this printer. I looked at all available photo printers, read countless reviews of inkjet, laser and sublimit printers in detail. Inkjet printers have improved a lot over the years, but the quality is still inkjet. A large amount of ink sprayed onto different types of paper results in pixelation and an image that cannot withstand the tiniest speck or drop of water. Laser printers were the next best choice, but they didn't seem to have the depth required. When the dye sublimates, a colorless image is obtained, which is covered with a protective layer at the end of the printing process. However, this quality has its price. It costs about twice as much as each page printed on any other type of printer and I think this paper is currently only made by Olympus. Maybe it's due to some kind of patent law. But if you want great images every time and aren't interested in printing t-shirt stickers or fridge magnets, this printer is for you. Small update, 6 months after purchase, I still love this printer, people are always amazed at the quality of the prints, you can tell the difference between photos taken in a darkroom and photos taken with this printer were not recognized. The PC card slot supports almost all media, but I never use it because the media adapter is always faster and I never just print from the printer, I always use the computer. Some of my relatives have printers with different slots, but they are so slow that it's always easier to just plug a card reader into the USB slot and just copy photos. I wouldn't make a problem out of this as the camera mount will always change. It's also true that this printer can't print true 8x10 sizes, so I'm just leaving some white paper fuzz around the edges. The printer still works great. It would be nice if consumable prices came down, but at least you know a printed image will look like a professional job. Another warning, this is not a general purpose printer like the inkjet printer, you cannot file an expense report for this printer, it is a specialized printer that uses the same inking process as the $1,000 printers to produce great photos. .
