I bought these shoes for a beach vacation after trying and throwing away various sandals, flip flops and other water shoes over the years. After spending a week in the sand and surf I can say I finally found my beach shoes. Look closely at your pictures - my husband and I ordered from the same listing, but my shoes had plastic lacing and velcro to keep the laces from dangling, and his laces were more like regular shoelaces (stretchy but flexible, no velcro or plastic poufs). However, let me be clear, both couples were great and did a good job. The material of the upper is breathable and breathable, which prevents too much sand from getting into the real shoe, while the rubber outsole provides a certain calmness when walking. Shells and beach debris (although obviously not Workman boots on Rusty Nail Island), and walking in the surf was far easier than expected with any previous pair of water boots I've owned (minimal "drag"). Very stretchy but they don't stretch if that makes sense. You can order one size smaller and they will fit snugly without the risk of the fabric not returning to the correct size after you take off your shoes.
