Didn't justify the excitement

I looked at a review on Youtube and immediately ordered a Stansout sponge. I followed the directions on the box exactly and used wet the first few times. My dislike of the sponge is due to the large holes all over the sponge which ended up putting foundation stains back on my cheeks when I did the final shading. It looked awful and messed up my base. Also, the sponge didn't deliver the full airbrushed skin fused application/finish that I wanted. I ordered 2 of these Stansout sponges and both were porous so this wasn't the only one. I've been using another foundation sponge for a year, it's much denser and doesn't have any visible holes on the surface. I prefer it as it gives a very airbrushed finish. I've already used another sponge again and it's only $4. Maybe my foundation didn't work with the Stansout sponge as it has a very runny/watery texture. I haven't tried it with cream yet. The reviewer on Youtube is very popular and I trust her reviews, so it's possible that the problem is due to the difference in base types.
