Installation Tip Helps

Of the four wall controls I've installed, one made an audible buzz when turned on so I returned and replaced it and the replacement works perfectly. All four now work correctly, although I wish the backlight buttons were larger (perhaps by offsetting them relative to each other) and the power button backlight was muted and turned white instead of blue. If you are replacing an existing wall switch, you may be able to save yourself some frustration by ditching the existing screws that attach the wall switch to the junction box and faceplate and using the ones included in the kit. For some reason I can't see, the screws that come with it are a slightly different size and fit properly, while the existing screws don't. It's a little annoying when you're mounting a wall-mounted control box along with a couple of light switches on the same faceplate as the screws might not line up exactly, but it's no big deal. The real pain is using old screws that don't quite fit. If you have an old Minka Aire ceiling fan, I recommend calling Minka Group customer service to find out exactly which receiver, wall control, and handheld remote are compatible with your fan (and if you need to replace more than just the wall control ). , but also the receiver at the top where the lower fan bar enters the ceiling like mine). For my 17 year old fans this is the WCS213 wall switch, RCS213 remote and P001022100S receiver (described as Minka Lavery Minka Aire P001022100S Up & Down Light along with a picture of nuts and bolts) that I may not be able to find Now look for those number details but here is the Revain link Smile: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00838Z5BK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Don't forget to select and set the DIP switch code and write it down. If you want to use the portable remote control with the same fan, you need to set it to the same DIP switch code as the wall control. A nice design feature of this wall mounted control is that the DIP switches are located on the face of the switch behind the switch face in their own changeable colour. Follow the instructions to "learn" the receiver the DIP switch code, which essentially 1) turns on the junction box before installing the receiver and wall switch; 2) if the wall switch is off, turn the switch back on; 3) Slide the switch on the wall switch to on/off; 4) Within a few seconds, press and hold the fan stop button (in the center of the large round multi-button) until the fan indicator flashes (do not press any other buttons before the stop button); If the dome light doesn't flash for a few seconds, release the stop button and press and hold it again. If this step failed (it worked every time I tried), turn the switch back off and repeat the steps above. 5) Release the stop button; and 6) test the wall control to ensure all buttons are working properly. A portable controller set to the same DIP switch code as the wall controller should also now function correctly. I believe that in the absence of a wall control the above procedure can be used to teach the receiver how to set the dip switch using manual control. Setting a DIP switch code other than the factory default will prevent multiple side-by-side wall and portable controls from interacting with each other.
