They did their job and more. I chose them as my first visibility item and wear them at night for running and walking. I wanted something detachable that could be worn with any jacket and had to be effective. I looked at others that also featured bright colors, but over time I realized I just needed a reflective piece (both for fashion and functional reasons) and found this one. The photos of the products have convinced me and I can confirm their true potential. As everyone else has reported, they are very bright when lit by spotlights; Reflectivity and surface are accurate. It's pretty cool when you first put them on and suddenly cars give you a lot of space and attention! I'm short but wanted to wear them over a jacket. I was willing to reuse them if the setup didn't work for me. The length of the ankle straps meets all the needs and more. I carry them on my shoulders (over winter layers) with no problem and they fit even without layers. They also fit around my ankle and knee for cycling without a leg curl (their purpose). If I wanted to wear them on my wrists (I'm not special), I could even add more velcro elements (they also make up the size of the bracelet). These bands have a comfortable stretch that grips without being too uncomfortable. I noticed that the reflective surface cracked when stretched (it happened instantly) but didn't peel off, which bothered me a year ago (when they were new) but not so much a year later. So far I've refrained from washing them and they have a few stains that I'd rather live with than mess with. Looking at them now, I can attest that they work even when dirty (although they deserve a wash). I often carry these straps in my bag and put them on when they catch me after dark. I also have wristbands with flashing LEDs because I figured they would draw more attention without having to have headlights (or whatever) on (I solved that when I first started cycling). Turn signals achieve what I wanted with the caveats of being useless in daylight and annoying me to death even when turned backwards. So I often wear an owl headband on one arm and a flashing LED headband on the other. I turn on my turn signal when I'm near traffic, then turn it off as soon as there's less danger (bike lane, path, quiet zone, etc.) and let the orchestra of owls do their job and leave me alone. In short, these straps are exactly what I was looking for at an attractive price. In general, I find owl strips more practical than LED strips (although I use both). They are worth every penny and I will have no hesitation in replacing them if necessary. If you're looking for something similar on the market, you've found the best reflectivity for your buck in my opinion. There are no downsides to investing, just grab a tape measure and choose your size.
