Review on πŸ”₯ Iwatani 35FW Butane Stove: A Medium-Sized Metallic Cooking Solution by Gary Hall

Revainrating 2 out of 5

I wanted to like this stove.

The solid build quality and appearance of this stove is excellent, but it does have a few serious flaws. First, the high power of the BTU is practically useless at maximum power. Because the flame spreads across the width of even the widest recommended cooking vessel. Most BTUs are lost on the sides of the swamp. Second, the flame restricts airflow. Most of the combustion air comes out of a central opening located in the middle of the burner head. This causes the flame to spread horizontally and does not effectively transfer butane combustion to the sump. Third, this stove overheats even when using a weak flame. Every time I've used this plate, the safety feature that releases the overpressure butane canister has activated. To use this stove for any length of time, you'll need to have a cool can of butane handy; then repeat if that canister is over pressurized due to overheating. There are other excellent Iwatani butane gas stoves. I recommend Ecopremium EPR-1 (not EPR-A) and Super Tatsujin Slim.
