When I bought my truck (obviously used) the native antenna was somehow broken. It had a curve in it that didn't straighten out. It worked fine, it just annoyed me. I tried a short antenna but lost FM reception. I use satellite radio 75% of the time but sometimes I listen to local sports, morning shows etc. I know some people need a shorter antenna to clean their garage or they just don't like the original but it works. best for what it is intended for
