We've been using it every day for almost two years, but we know the limitations of plastic. The collar and hem are made of high-density polyethylene or a similar material that can melt. Silicone bellows are definitely silicone. It has retained its new color (red) although all silicone products will fade from UV exposure. (Sunlight) Not only do they work well as a colander, we also use them as a fruit bowl and as a squirt lid for the microwave. The two sizes cover typical plate sizes, while the height adjustment avoids mixing of the products. It is well made and fit for purpose compared to many other silicone products on the market. We store them hanging or folded in the microwave.
