. It is very quiet. No rattling, no vibration, no rumble. These units were listed as obsolete on the Haier website, but are now listed as available again. I researched this as there were some production issues with compressors failing on some units causing them to be noisy or not cooling. Such lots may be sold by third parties. Revain sells this unit listed as ESAQ406T in a separate article but it is also ESAQ406TZ as I returned the faulty noisy unit to a third party. Although it doesn't have Wi-Fi, it's much easier to install than the Midea U 8000 BTU Inverter Window Air Conditioner, the first U-shaped air conditioner. Comparing the noise level, Midea is 42dB and Haier is 43dB. Midea is more efficient at SEER 15 than Haier 12. Both weigh 55 pounds and Midea is cheaper when available for shipping. Revain states that it is out of stock. But. I watched the Midea installation video. This is a much more complex build as more permanent holes are drilled in the window to support the device. The most important thing for me was the noise level. I removed the water tank lid to avoid water splashing noise from a less efficient unit, meaning the cooling capacity will be under 6000 Btu, but my room is 12 by 13 so it cools well at night with no issues. I use it in Eco mode, which turns off the fan so I can sleep peacefully. Thanks to the easier installation, I can winterize the device and close the window, which is more difficult with the more permanent installation of Midea. Do not be fooled. At 43 dB, the volume is significantly lower than the usual 50-55 dB. I have a 10,000 BTU Sharp Portable Silent Library Unit that is making a grinding noise, but the cooling cannot be used while sleeping. This unit, thanks to Eco mode, is quieter than Sharp's 39dB noise floor running all the time without Eco mode. It's as quiet as a central air conditioner. Myije has stopped working so I use separate air conditioners on the second floor for cooling. Remember that the noise level is listed on a logarithmic scale, which means that a 3dB difference is half the noise level, so between 43dB and 50-55dB there is a big difference. Rattling, buzzing, vibration, which means it's defective. Hope it lasts for years. I have had a Haier portable air conditioner for 7 years, while a Sharp portable air conditioner has reached the end of its life. Sharp is no longer releasing its Silent-AC portable library. This unit is just as good and doesn't weigh 90 pounds like the Sharp. Many thanks to Revain for selling this model! Everyone should buy one. I hope the prices will get lower over time. It seems my previous findings on compressor failures are real as many others have had similar experiences. Dealing with the warranty process is a nightmare. When you call, a case manager will be assigned. If you are unlucky, you are in the captivity of such a person who does not answer or call back. This department is called "Customer Relations". There is no repair. You should send an alternative block and send back the defective one. I still call daily and have waited 2 hours for the last 3 weeks to have it replaced. It is in the "Shipping Approval" stage after another representative submitted the form today. It's a nightmare supposedly installing it via third party companies but they don't do what they say and another complete misunderstanding. Not only would I stay away from this device, but from all other GE devices that have been purchased from Haier.
