This bookshelf is quite stable. I could put more books on it than shown in my photos. Since the bookcase is made of chipboard, I was afraid it would look cheap and ugly compared to the beautiful mid-century modern furniture I inherited from my mom and grandma. No problem! In the photo of the bookshelf next to the solid wood side table, you can see that the bookshelf is not that high quality, but it does not collide, especially since the side table is usually a few meters away. (The bookcase is a darker color, but I knew that when I bought it.) Assembly was easy enough; The holes were drilled in the right places to fit together well, all hardware was included and the instructions were clear despite being just a series of pictures. The only tool I used was a Phillips screwdriver. It took me 2.5 hours to set it up, but that's because I'm an absolute perfectionist. I work VERY slowly, pay close attention to detail and check instructions frequently. A normal person could probably assemble it in 45 minutes.
