I use it as a pre-filter for my water heater. When I installed it I placed it after the check valve so I could shut off the feed to the filter, remove the housing, fill with hydrogen peroxide, replace the housing and turn the water back on. The entire development takes about five minutes and the hydrogen sulfide odor was eliminated immediately. product quality. The included drain fittings leak like a strainer - don't use them when there is no pressure in the system (inlet valve closed and outlet valve open) or use a drain valve without the stupid nylon hose (for an ice maker). I connected the ProPex fittings to the supply side and directly to the water heater's flexible stainless steel tubing - the ProPex has a slow, steady drip (about an ounce per week) through three turns of Teflon tape; I am concerned that further tightening of the fitting could damage the filter. I'll use gas oil thread sealant on the next repair. All of my supply side piping is 3/4" and this kit comes with everything needed to connect to 3/4" or 1" piping, male or female; I was very impressed. I enjoyed adding this Haven't noticed a reduction in flow or pressure with any product added to my system I can't imagine this product being improved on Incredible quality for this price range and 1/4 the price of the same product at a plumbing store It's light enough that I can comfortable installing it without support, and heavy enough that I don't have to worry about it tearing during installation.
