I had to use both hangers to attach a decoration to the glass portion of the storm door. You simply press a decorative tin bucket 12x12x3 with flowers in it onto the glass. No slips after a week, even on very wet days. They would probably work independently for the same purpose if I also had a metal door. Written instructions for gluing in a credit card to separate apply even if there is glass in between. But I would be wary of using a credit card in case the powerful magnets mess up the information stored on the card. Instead I would suggest an expired card or some other plastic item. You should probably keep them away from pacemakers, too. They were tasked with replacing a similar magnetic grapple that was no longer available and works just as well.
