Review on Alcatel Removable Unlocked International 5033E by Kio Dior ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The product did not cause delight, but you can use it.

For the most part, the phone is dirt cheap, thus cutting corners is expected. However, if you're interested in smartphones, I suggest you look at those that use IPS technology for their displays instead of this one. You can get away with an older model that doesn't have the "in" 18:9 aspect ratio but does have a reasonable screen size. Simply put, such a precise ratio makes no sense at all. Even if you're able to tolerate a general sense of listlessness, the screen will likely make you avoid doing so again. I'm not choosy, and I've had success with every phone in the redmi line, most recently the redmi note 4x. This Alcatel is the absolute bottom of the barrel in terms of pricing, even when compared to similarly priced smartphones.

Pros
  • Android GO, Google's lightweight standard programs that work in tandem with the rest of the system, allow you to function more or less normally even when using a low-powered CPU. Weaned heavily off of this design size, however this phone's portability is a big selling point. No Internet or video editing work of any significance is expected.
Cons
  • It's an awful screen, really. Even when taking TN into account. My old HP ProBook likewise has a TN matrix, but the experience is very different. One can get the idea that the polarizing film was inserted improperly. Turning the phone over improves the screen's aesthetics, but you still aren't really excited about it. And with the screen positioned as it is now, not only are all angles of view blocked, but even a direct gaze causes color distortion. The processor can hardly handle the most fundamental smartphone tasks. It takes a few seconds to answer a call, programs are sluggish, the keyboard is sticky, and pressing has a delayed reaction. The fact that the touchscreen sensor has erratic responses and frequently fails to register presses is quite frustrating. It's a compact battery. This is plain to see. The battery life of the phone is sufficient for light usage into the evening, but it was not designed for continuous use of IM clients and web browsing.

With its pros: Price, screen size, external design. Different cons: Image quality, relatively fast discharge, slows down a bit.
