Socrates wants a Nutri-Berry

When our gray parrot Timneh got frustrated and started plucking his chest feathers, our vet recommended that we change a few things to eliminate the unwanted behavior. At first he wanted us to change her diet so she could eat better, so he recommended different varieties of Lafever Nutri-Berries to provide some variety. Because parrots spend 90% of their time in the wild looking for food, they need extra activities when raised in a cage. I usually add other seeds and nuts to make her work a little harder while she searches her food bowl. He also suggested giving her fresh fruits and vegetables at least once a day to be on the safe side and give her more variety. He also advised us to change up her toys so she wouldn't get bored and encouraged us to put a new cardboard box in her every day so she could grind it up and use up some of her energy. Last suggestion was to spray her with clean water every day in case she itches and/or gets dirty. I'm happy to report that a combination of these changes prevented her from resuming plucking. She is happier and talking more again. We're just glad she's doing better. PS: We supposedly bought a male parrot, but the eggs laid clearly indicate a female. She also switched allegiance from me to my wife, proving once again that "a fisherman fishes."
