I bought this wired system for my detached garage because we don't have dedicated Wi-Fi. I did a temporary test build at home as I was skeptical about the quality at such a low price. Didn't want to go through the hassle of a definitive install to find out it was a bust. Installed a $35 35,500GB Western Digital hard drive that I bought separately, hooked up the DVR to an old LCD TV via VGA, connected the cameras, turned them on, followed the instructions to format the hard drive, set it up for recording and seen it work. . It took 30 minutes and has been working for a few days with no problems. I was able to view the recorded content without any problems. The day/night camera works great and switches smoothly when the light level changes. I'm now satisfied that this really is a great deal and will be doing the final install in the garage next week. Several friends have expressed interest in purchasing the system for their homes.
