I purchased it as an external hard drive at the end of 2022 for the price of 3,500 dollars. After taking it apart, removing the hard drive (a Western Digital WD20EARS), and inserting it into the computer, I continued to use the board and power adapter to use it as an external hard drive on occasion. I don't know what else to say other than the fact that the disk is fantastic in terms of the price-to-volume ratio while also proving to be pretty reliable. In spite of the fact that the operating time has surpassed 15,000 hours and the number of head parking spots has reached 218,000, there has not been a single fault or broken sector. I needed a file cleaner in addition to storage for software and driver releases, therefore I purchased this product. Con: by default, the disk will frequently park heads when it is not being used, and it will crunch quite a bit when it is being used. There is a treatment for it. I simply configured the Hard Disk Sentinel to poll the hard drives once every five seconds, and as a result, the heads are no longer parked under DOS. This avoids the need to completely disable parking under the operating system. I overcame the issue that I was having with the crunch by lowering the value of the option that was labeled "Noise control configuration." If the disk is being accessed frequently, it will now operate at a volume setting that is considered medium. It is possible that this will function well when used as an external hard drive; however, when it is put to use as a regular internal screw, it does so. The temperature inside your own case can get fairly high—up to fifty degrees or higher—which is not a healthy range. I also do not consider the SATA-II interface to be a disadvantage. Even SATA-I is sufficient for this disk, and SATA-II is superfluous; the maximum linear write-read speed does not exceed 120 MB/s (and this is when it is installed inside of a computer; when connected via USB 2.0, it is even slower - 60 MB/s). Everything is great as far as dependability goes; it has been working for a considerable amount of time, and there has been no discernible decline in performance at all that has been observed. File storage may be done exceptionally well on both the external and the internal versions of this hard drive.
