Mainly used as a headphone amp with optical connection and that alone was worth the money (the Dolby Bypass button on the box just leaves the signal with no 7.1 conversion by the processor). I've tried it out with a pair of Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones and a pair of Grado SR80 and they sound great on both (the Grado sounds better and a bit clearer where the difference was previously imperceptible) connected via an optical connection on my motherboard are connected -in sound card. The sound is about as good as I can imagine for the price. It's clear, there's no background noise or hiss, and the on-box controls allow for a very wide range of volume and bass adjustments to tweak the sound the way you want it. It's absolutely better than without; The music is much, much richer and I hear things I never would have heard before using the same headphones. Bass response is much better than what I got without the processor connected. I also tried it on my Xbox360 and found a sound there that I didn't even know my Xbox could play. All in all a very, very impressive package and I'm glad I finally bought it. Now I carry it with me so I can use it with my desktop, consoles or laptop as it's so much better than without. The included optical cable is thin and of questionable quality, and also quite stiff. So buy a decent bundle instead of a bundle if you intend to travel with the device or plug and unplug it frequently.
