This little hub has some big pros and cons. What made me choose this hub was that it was the only hub I had in this one Stil (the one that attaches directly to it on the side of the laptop) with an HDMI 2.0b port (meaning it can handle 4k at 60Hz, while most hubs can only handle 4k at 30Hz.) It has dual full size HDMI 3.0 ports, SD/Micro SD reader, Thunderbolt/Power passthrough and optional Type-C port were just icing on the cake.I tested most of the ports and for the most part they all work as is as you would expect and behaves like this: supports 4k @ 60Hz but doesn't fit in the case of a bit of a hassle connecting the HDMI cable - SD card and micro SD card reader work fine (although I don't have a fast SD or Micro SD card, de I think the limiting factor for me was my cards, not the reader). - Full size U SB 3.0 ports work as expected. Although I've only tested them with some ethernet adapters and a slower external hard drive. So they can at least support full gigabit speeds, but I don't know if they have 5Gbps bandwidth. I didn't have any power consumption issues even with an external hard drive plugged in, so they don't seem to have any power consumption issues either. Now for the Type C ports. This is where the little problem comes in. In terms of laptop charging, both work just fine (although the left/top USB-C port seems to carry a bit more power than the other). I'm not sure if Thunderbolt pass-through is working properly as I don't currently have a Thunderbolt device to test with. But the second USB Type-c PD port seems to have some oddities. According to the pictures in the product listing, the second bottom/right Type-C port is a USB 3.0 port, but when I plugged in a gigabit network adapter or an external SSD, both showed up in the OS via a USB 2.0 device, both of them restrictive. up to 480 Mbit/s. Nothing I've done has changed this except rearranging the connections so the ethernet adapter or SSD is connected to the Thunderbolt pass-through port and the laptop charger is connected to the bottom/right Type-C port. port is connected. The device comes in nice packaging with a nice little faux leather case to hold the hub, so no complaints. As for the fit and finish of the product itself, it's quite nice, the metal body has no sharp edges and feels premium. The only complaint I would have is that, as I mentioned, the HDMI port doesn't match the case cutout very well. It might just be my device that I received but I think it's good to mention. Separately, I would like this device to have a version with a built-in Ethernet adapter. All in all, if you're looking for a good enough Type-C hub for your MacBook with a true HDMI 2.0b port, then this is the only one. If you're just looking for a basic hub in this style and don't care that much about the HDMI port, I might consider other options. Especially since you seem to be paying too much for a more convenient HDMI port.
