UPDATE 5 (26/08/2020): Finally a return. It's a shame, but I'm sending the phone back. While it's been replaced by Motorola, the screen does show grain or smudges in low light. I just can't trust this phone and its screen to last more than a year of warranty. The benefit is also something I can't really accept in the long run. Watching videos is just impractical on a curved screen. Maybe this phone is for you, maybe I have two poor quality items. Either way, enjoy what you like, but keep an eye on your device. UPDATE 4 (08/17/2020): Patience is key with this phone. The replacement phone that Motorola sent me has no screen issues after 6 days. People report that problems usually appear within the first 2-3 days. So I think if there are no problems after a week then everything is fine. It's still very hard to swallow a potential screen problem at full retail price, or any price at all. For those of us who bought it at a discount when it first launched, I still think it's good value for money. However, if you're looking for a phone that will work with your phone and you're not a power user or don't really care about 5g (which you shouldn't do unless it helps your rural coverage), the Pixel 4a is it my recommended choice. . . Or wait for the Pixel 4a 5g to come out, which should have the same chipset. UPDATE 3 (8/11/2020): Dawn of the New Phone Well Motorola gave me a new phone overnight. You can see the difference in screen quality. Let's see if there is the same problem with the new phone. Should show up after a few days of use. UPDATE 2 (8/10/2020): Motorola replacement saga I have contacted Motorola about an issue with the phone. There have been many reports of a green cast issue on the screen in low light conditions. It is possible that the first batch is faulty. So getting replacements direct from Revain might not be better. Hopefully the new phone will have a fixed screen, but if the second replacement phone is defective it will be sent back to Revain for a refund. People report that if you're fine for the first 3-4 days your screen is fine, but that's about it. unacceptable for the price. UPDATE 1 (05/08/2020): (Keep original review below) After using this phone for a little over four days, you're starting to experience display issues similar to the Moto Edge+. The display has a green tint at night in low light conditions. It's almost like a green haze, and that's the top half of the display (see attached photo). This makes sense as it uses the same display panel as the Moto Edge+, which also has a green cast issue on some devices. If you're having this problem, it might be a software fix, but I'd ask for a new one through Revain or Motorola, or just return it. (Original review): TL; DR - If you love listening to music over Bluetooth, there's a quirky solution you might need if the music sounds flat or lacks bass. If you like listening to music over Bluetooth, this is a bit of a mixed bag. There's an app called Moto Audio that always has an equalizer and weird setting for any audio output over Bluetooth. It makes the music sound incredibly hard, flat and just plain awful. However, USB-C adapters or headphones plugged into the headphone jack disable this equalizer. There may be an option to disable Moto Audio for Bluetooth within the app itself, but the equalizer may remain. To fix this, plug in your headphones using either the headphone jack or the USB-C port, then unplug them and go back to Bluetooth. The audio should return to its full and normal tone. I'm not sure if I have some weird bug, but the equalizer persisted on my phone even though it was originally disabled. Otherwise this is a very good phone. The screen is quite bright and the 90Hz refresh rate is comfortable. VoLTE and WiFi calls work over Straight Talk on T-Mobile, which is great. You can use this phone when T-Mobile ends 3G calling on January 1, 2020. You also get 5G signal, which is cool. No issues with the fingerprint sensor, works well with the screen protector (plastic) applied. . The case that comes with it is also good as there are limited options available for this phone. The speakers are also quite good and loud, music sounds quite clear through them. With phones getting more and more expensive this is a pretty good phone for the price. . Of course there are cheaper phones out there, but 5G support, 765G chipset, headphone jack, some water resistance and design, I would say this is a good mid-range phone.
