Review on Ember Mug 2, 295 ml by Edyta Potrzebowska ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I expected more from buying, but not the worst option.

A month and a half of correspondence and support and 25 letters did not lead to anything. The manufacturer cannot diagnose using the application, explain any technical details (standard current consumption, heating mode, power adapter power rating). All consultations come down to a proposal to reset the mug to the factory settings, check the power contacts and plug it into the outlet. Tech support is completely helpless. In the event of a malfunction, the manufacturer is ready to take the mug for diagnostics and, if a defect is found, make a replacement, but the Ember warranty only works in the USA and Canada. Without an address there, it is impossible to diagnose and return.

Pros
  • Really can keep the temperature of the drink. Looks neat.
Cons
  • A mug purchased in the USA is not able to work in the mode declared by the manufacturer: > If you are keeping your beverage hot while using the coaster, it can maintain your perfect temperature all day!* When Ember is on the charging coaster the battery will stay at a constant level and will not charge any higher until your Ember is empty or is powered off. While maintaining the temperature at 62.5 ° C and being on the stand, the mug is gradually discharged. After three or four hours, the battery can be completely discharged and then the mug cannot work, not only autonomously, but even on a stand, being connected to the charger. There is no question of charging on a stand while maintaining the temperature. Battery life - one and a half hours maximum. The maximum maintained temperature is 62.5 ° C, which is low for fans of hot drinks. I want 65-70 ° C. After two hours without removing it from the stand, it turns off and stops maintaining the temperature. This is protection, but not customizable. There is an application for the phone, but its functionality is stupid. Of the useful functions: setting the temperature and indicating the battery level. There is no indication of the current temperature and the current battery level on the mug itself - only the white or red color of the only LED indicator that signals the maintenance of the temperature and the battery discharge. The manufacturer of the mug is positioned precisely as an autonomous heater for one "tea party". It is understood that after that the user puts the mug on the stand for a couple of hours to charge. Use continuously for 8-12 hours even without a stand may not work. What will happen to the mug a year or two later, one can only guess - it is not separable, the battery cannot be replaced. And it will quickly degrade in the offline mode promoted by the manufacturer. For $130, excluding shipping, not to mention prices in 2022 of 17–20 thousand (~$220–270), it’s a stupid toy. True, there are actually no competitors, except for cheap Chinese handicrafts.
