I have a Pertronix flamethrower stick dispenser with II igniter module and Pertronix coil. When I installed it, a friend told me - buy an additional module in case of failure. I have made. after OK. 3000 miles and 2-3/4 years Engine 57 dead. Checked fuel is OK. Waited 30 minutes for the tow truck and decided to try to start. Got it straight away and took it home. 8 miles. Went through the fuel system and bought a Quick Fuel carburetor and a new Edelbrock header. There were doubts about the functioning of the fuel system. The Model 57 was much easier to start and had improved performance. It's all good, I took it for a ride. About 5 miles dead. Waited 30 minutes and restarted. Almost made it home and died - within walking distance. Replaced the coil (for Pertronix) does not start. I had to tow. It started, drove about 2km the next day and died. Towed to my garage. Called Pertronix - they said I needed to diagnose my 57. I told them it was a frame rebuild, new wiring harness, new battery etc. They said we've heard this before but we need you to do these car tests. I did all the tests the next day. They all passed, so I decided to replace the II ignition module with my spare module. It started right away. Drove 50km with no problems. My concern is why can't Pertronix provide diagnostics for their components? Why it is necessary to fix the entire car to prove there is a problem with their product. I will go to another manufacturer - MSD or DUI I think. 3000 miles and 2-3/4 year warranty
