This hat is thick and well made. It stretches a little but not enough to deform. The hat falls low enough to cover the neck where the sweater doesn't reach. My lab/pit weighs 70 pounds. The big one fits her perfectly. When I put it on her for the first time she looked at me like I was crazy and wanted to take it off. She had never worn a hat. The next few times she wore the hat were better. She's slowly getting used to it. I'm glad I got it for her to keep her ears warm. When I wash my hat, I let it air dry instead of using the dryer.
