Review on Intel Core I5 3470 Quad Core Processor Computer Components by Mateusz Bana ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like everything, the quality is good, the price is reasonable.

Although the nominal performance is the same as that of the Intel Core i5 - 2550K, the overclocking potential is significantly lower. It would appear that technologies operating at 22nm should release less heat than those operating at 32nm, but the existence of a video core makes heat dissipation much more difficult. As a consequence of this, even if the acceleration to 4.4 GHz is the identical, the new 2550k is almost 10 degrees hotter than the 3570k. If you do not require a video core, you should not get it for overclocking because I do not advocate it. I really hope that Intel will release a 22mm processor that does not have a video core when they finally come to their senses.

Pros
  • The new Intel Core i5 - 2670K has a better video core than the previous Intel Core i5 - 2550K, however the advantages have been exhausted.
Cons
  • The fact that the video core takes up about half of the surface area of the stone makes it exceedingly challenging to transmit heat between the two. There is a straightforward relationship between the surface area of contact between the crystal and the cooler and the amount of heat that is transferred.
