Not quite perfect, but the best there is

My house has one of those unfortunate entrances where the front door is a step lower than the entire first floor. Because the house is old, there are no outlets near this unexpected little feature, so I couldn't even put a night light there. themselves are only a meter long. Did I mention they are rechargeable? The touch part is small and light as it does not require four AA batteries. Charges via micro USB. Time will tell how well the battery performs. The LED strip can be cut with scissors at the marked points. I cut a 32β€³ and a 28β€³ which gave me a 60β€³ length (unfortunately there were no 30β€³ and 30β€³ options). I glued the strips just below the edge of the step and glued the sensors. feet off the wall. Passing through sensors in the dark now makes it clear that there is a potential trip or fall hazard nearby. To charge, simply remove it from the magnetic mount and disconnect the LED cable. Plug them into the charger and go for a few hours. The sensors have motion detection of about 100 degrees from side to side. You must approach them diagonally or straight ahead for them to work. They won't see you if you approach from the side. Night mode works great. In total darkness, both lanes light up. At dusk, only one lights up, because that creates enough light to convince the other sensor that it's still daylight. Keep that in mind if you want to place them like I did, with each sensor facing the other's light bar. Be very careful when peeling off the paper covering the adhesive. It's easy to accidentally tear off the adhesive and then wonder why it won't stick. Suggestions for improvement: These light strips are BRIGHT. I would happily settle for lower LED brightness or fewer LEDs per foot for a longer strip of light. I know there are so many LEDs that can run from a single 5V supply. A longer and dimmer strip would make an ideal motion sensitive night light to indicate travel related hazards.
