I made the mistake of using my new down jacket as a winch cable dampener and it got caught around a tree while lifting another jeep. As a result, several tears formed on the nylon sheath, which I temporarily sealed with medical tape. I replaced the medical tape with these patches and while the jacket doesn't look like new, the repair is difficult to see. The best part is that the jacket had to be washed a few weeks after it was sealed. I put the jacket in the front load washing machine on a gentle cycle, used down laundry soap and then ran the jacket through a very low heat dryer for 2 hours to lift and evenly distribute the lint. All patches are intact. While $7 seems expensive for six small patches, it saved me a $200 down jacket. That's why I call it victory in my book.
